Ok, my friend is fairly sure he ejected it safely from the PS3 by turning the PS3 off first, before disconnecting the HD. I was wondering what a Master Boot Record is? and whether this could be the problem? I've just tried it again in all my USB ports and there just isn't any reaction from the HD....

Oh yeah, I'd like to add that it's the only USB device connected to my computer, so it's not a power issue!
